Fine Dining Valentine’s

Foodies should seriously consider visiting Cardiff and Vale College’s critically acclaimed training restaurant The Classroom. Serving a sumptuous selection of seasonal dishes, using Welsh produce where possible, you can enjoy offerings such as Pant-ys Gawn goats’ cheese terrine, filet of seabass, pancetta and leek fricassee and blood orange panna cotta all created from scratch by talented students. You also might enjoy gazing across at your beloved whist taking in the views across Cardiff courtesy of their floor to ceiling glass dining room, situated on the top floor of the campus building.

Indulgent Valentine’s

Seeking some serious pampering this Valentines? Head to 4 star, central Cardiff hotel, Park Plaza to enjoy a variety of indulgence, including spa sessions, dining or perhaps an afternoon tea for two. I have been extremely fortunate to have sampled their afternoon tea and imagine if you will a tower of sugary loveliness, featuring finger sandwiches, lush scones with clotted cream and strawberry preserve, welsh cakes and miniature pastries. Should you be able to move following such a feast you can follow up your tea with a trip to the Laguna spa to unwind, or enjoy several of the treatments on offer, or perhaps candle-lit dinner in the contemporary Laguna restaurant perfect for some serious gazing at your beloved.

Outdoor Valentines

Why not wrap up against the elements and head to one of Cardiff’s most beautiful and most extensive outdoor spaces, Bute Park. Situated behind Cardiff Castle, the park boasts a range of features including urban woodland, sports pitches, arboretum, horticultural features and river corridor. Wander hand in hand through self-led trails, spotting both squirrels and sculptures. Why not warm up with a brew in one of the many café’s in and around the park. Why not visit the amazing Pettigrew tea rooms to indulge in some tea and cake. Proudly independent, Pettigrew employs a full time baker making delicious classic cakes such as Lemon drizzle, carrot cake and Bara Brith.
