Explore Lanzarote’s Timanfaya National Park

Timanfaya National Park is home to Lanzarote’s ‘Fire Mountains’, which were created by huge volcanic activity in the 1700’s. Come and marvel at this unique volcanic landscape and spend some time gazing at lava fields, boiling steam, cones and salt marshes. You can book tours of the area, eat food that is cooked by volcano heat at the El Diablo Restaurant, or go on a self-guided walk. Just be sure to take care when trying to get a ‘steam selfie’, this landscape is as fiery as it is beautiful.

Go Dolphin spotting in Gran Canaria

Book a boat excursion to go dolphin and whale watching in Gran Canaria and soak up some Vitamin D whilst you’re at it. Imagine kicking back with a beer on the top deck of a lush boat, as pods of dolphins follow along in the wake, jumping and playing in their natural environment. You might also be able to spot orcas, sperm whales and humpbacks if you are lucky, so get those cameras ready for some wildlife snapping! There are many dolphin excursions available in Gran Canaria, I would recommend doing some research on Tripadvisor to find a trip to suit your style and budget.

How to have an awesome girl's weekend in Tenerife

Experience hiking in La Gomera

When you are visiting La Gomera, the second-smallest of the main islands, make sure you spend some time hiking around Roque de Agando, a striking rock formation in a beautifully scenic area. Hiking around La Gomera is relatively easy due to a network of well-marked trails of varying difficulty. A popular route is Roque de Agando to Playa de Santiago, a lovely 12.5k hike around a charming rural area.

Go diving around El Hierro

There is spectacular diving around El Hierro, the water has beautiful clarity as well as fascinating underwater landscapes. There are many dive sites in this area, each full of marine life including sponges, corals, flatfish, seahorses and rays, you might even be lucky enough to spot hammerhead or tiger sharks. There are several professional dive schools, such as the Green Shark Diving Centre, that offer equipment rental for licensed divers as well as courses for newbies.

Spoil yourself with a 5-star hotel in Tenerife

The largest of the Canary Islands, Tenerife is hugely popular with tourists, who come to sun themselves on fabulous beaches and to enjoy a spot of luxury at its many hotels and resorts. You can book a 5-star hotel experience with Holiday Gems and properly spoil yourself in a top-notch hotel. I personally love hotels with fabulous restaurants, swimming pools, spas and a lush terrace for enjoying a cheeky glass of vino from, as the sun goes down.
