Explore Winter Park

One of my favourite places in Florida is Winter Park. With cherry blossoms and local boutiques, this charming neighbourhood has a hint of ‘Stars Hollow‘ about it and is just a few miles north of Orlando.

The city’s historic district features cobblestoned streets and many well-preserved buildings from this era, including the Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Gardens. Wander the tree-lined streets to find upscale shops, restaurants and hipster cafes.

It’s the perfect place for an adult’s day out in Orlando if you want a relaxed alternative to the crowded theme parks.

This sophisticated suburb is known for its elegant Park Avenue, a tree-lined street where you can explore boutique shopping, fine dining, and cutesy coffee shops selling indulgent cakes.

The avenue is home to over 140 swish boutiques offering everything from high-end fashion to handmade local crafts.

It’s the perfect place to find unique souvenirs or enjoy a day of indulgent retail therapy.

Winter Park Orlando things to do

Another gem of Winter Park is the Scenic Boat Tour, one of my favourite things to do in Winter Park.

This hour-long, guided cruise takes you through the city’s beautiful lakes and canals, offering a glimpse into the opulent estates and lush landscapes that characterize this swanky area.

For art lovers, Winter Park is a cultural haven. The city hosts numerous art festivals throughout the year, including the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival, one of the most prestigious in the southeastern United States.

This event draws artists and attendees from all over the country, and it displays an impressive array of creative artwork in various mediums.

Winter Park’s dedication to the arts is also evident in its numerous galleries and the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, which houses the world’s most comprehensive collection of Tiffany glass.

Check out The Vibrant Scene of Downtown Orlando

Downtown Orlando offers a vibrant mix of cultural, recreational, and entertainment options, making it a great place to explore for adults looking for fun things to do in the city.

The area buzzes with energy, especially at night, when its numerous bars, clubs, and live music venues come alive.

From soulful jazz bars to glam rooftop cocktail lounges, downtown is perfect for a night out with friends or a romantic date night.

Lake Eola Park

Lake Eola Park is the heart of downtown and a must-visit for anyone coming to Orlando. The park is known for its iconic fountain and the picturesque swan boats you can rent to explore the urban lake.

With a paved sidewalk that circles the water, it’s a great spot for a walk or a romantic picnic with a view.

Throughout the year, Lake Eola Park also hosts various free events and markets, offering a taste of local life in Orlando.

Orlando Museums and Theatres

The cultural scene in downtown Orlando is as diverse as the city itself. The Orlando Museum of Art, with its extensive collections and exhibitions, is a must-visit for art enthusiasts.

The museum features works from local, national, and international artists spanning various periods and styles.

If you love live performances, the Dr Phillips Center for the Performing Arts hosts Broadway shows, concerts, and ballets, providing world-class entertainment in the heart of Orlando.

Go wine Tasting

While Florida is not typically considered a wine-producing state, several taprooms and upscale wineries in the Orlando area offer tours and tastings where you can swill wine like a pro.

Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards offer complimentary winery tours and wine tasting where you can sample their award-winning Muscadine grape wines.

In downtown Orlando, the Eola Wine Company offers over 100 distinctive wines by the glass to try. You can also feast on accompanying charcuterie boards on their lively patio.

Quantum Leap Winery is a sustainable winery and cidery offering flights and tastings of high-quality wines with a reduced carbon footprint.

In addition to tastings, the winery has a varied program of fun wine events, including cheese and chocolate pairings.

It’s one of the best boozy activities for adults in Orlando when you are on a carefree vacation.

best theme parks in Orlando for adults

Orlando is synonymous with theme parks and for a very good reason. The city’s many parks offer thrilling adventures for adults, from world-class roller coasters to immersive themed lands and upscale dining and evening entertainment.

Universal Orlando Resort’s two theme parks, Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, are must-visits, and I think they are definitely the best theme parks in Orlando for adults.

Universal Studios Florida invites you to enter the world of movies and TV shows featuring attractions like The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley.

Islands of Adventure ups the ante with more thrilling rides, including the Incredible Hulk Coaster and the Jurassic Park River Adventure.

Universal CityWalk, the resort’s entertainment complex, offers dining, shopping, and live entertainment, making it a great place to unwind after a day at the parks.

Universal Studios Florida

I truly believe that Universal Studios Florida is Orlando’s best theme park for adult fun. This iconic park, part of the larger Universal Orlando Resort, caters to a grown-up audience.

Here, you’ll find a blend of nostalgic film references, cutting-edge technology, and pumping nightlife spots that transform a simple theme park visit into an unforgettable vacation day.

Thrilling Rides and Attractions

Universal Studios Florida is home to some of the most exhilarating rides, special events and attractions designed to captivate adults. There is also plenty of family fun if you decide to bring the kids.

The Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is my favourite. It’s a high-speed roller coaster that lets you select a song as the soundtrack to your ride, combining adrenaline-pumping speeds with personal musical tastes.

Jurassic World VelociCoaster is also a brilliant ride for adults as you go on a high-speed dash through the park’s raptor paddock.

The Revenge of the Mummy is an indoor roller coaster that offers a dark ride experience filled with special effects and fiery surprises.

For fans of the action-packed world of Autobots, the Transformers: The Ride-3D is a must-experience.

This fusion of 3D film and ride technology immerses you into the universe of Autobots and Decepticons, making you feel like part of epic battles.

Universal Themed Lands

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley stands out as a pinnacle of themed entertainment, offering an immersive Hogwarts experience beyond the rides.

Adult Harry Potter fans can appreciate the meticulous attention to detail in the recreation of Diagon Alley, from the shops selling wizarding wares to the hidden Knockturn Alley.

There are also plenty of high-speed rides, including The Escape from Gringotts ride, which combines a roller coaster and 3D film to bring Harry Potter’s magic to life.

Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure takes you through the Forbidden Forest on a fast, freewheeling ride filled with surprising twists and magical creatures.

It’s my absolute favourite ride at Universal, as it combines fast coasters with the whimsical world of Harry Potter—utter magic!

Beyond the rides, adults can enjoy unique experiences like sipping a Butterbeer at the Leaky Cauldron or selecting a wand at Ollivanders.

Walt Disney World Resort

Walt Disney World Resort is another must-visit destination with four action-packed theme parks and immersive lands that transport you back to childhood.

The Magic Kingdom, with its iconic attractions like Cinderella’s Castle and Space Mountain, captures the essence of Walt Disney magic and is perfect for adults looking for a bit of Disney nostalgia.

You’ll see all the characters you know and love from the classic films and newer cultural titans that Disney has acquired, like Star Wars and Marvel.

Epcot, known for its World Showcase and annual festivals, offers a nostalgic and cultural experience that adults can thoroughly enjoy.

Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom each offer unique attractions, with the former diving into the world of movies and the latter offering a blend of high-octane rides and animal encounters.

If you want a break from the adrenaline, the Disney resorts offer more chilled experiences, such as exquisite dining options, spa services, and golf courses.

Discover new words at Epcot

Epcot is an ideal Disney theme park for adults who want to experience today’s and tomorrow’s worlds, ride exhilarating coasters, and experience immersive attractions.

Epcot has seriously upped its park offerings lately with extensive refurbishments, including new worlds, rides, and food trucks, all designed to take you deeper into world cultures and outer space.

Travel through 11 nations in the World Showcase, check out Epcot’s Festival Calendar, and be dazzled by HarmonioUS – a nighttime spectacular with lights, lasers, and floating set pieces.

Guardians of the Galaxy

Thrill seekers should head to one of Epcot’s newest ride offerings – Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind – one of Disney’s best rides.

This world-class attraction features a new storytelling coaster that rotates 360 degrees to focus on the action, including the first reverse launch on a Disney coaster.

As a huge Marvel fan, it’s probably my favourite ride at Disney. Storytelling is at the heart of the Guardians of the Galaxy ride.

You’ll see all your favourites, including Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, Drax the Destroyer, and Groot, as they embark on a mission to save the galaxy from impending danger with you at their side.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, is one of the best Disney lands for adults. As a massive Star Wars fan, my first visit to this galaxy far, far away was a dream come true!

It’s an immersive sci-fi land that transcends the traditional theme park experience, inviting you into a sprawling, meticulously detailed universe that feels like stepping directly into a Star Wars film.

This 14-acre land offers a unique blend of storytelling, technology, and interactivity, making it an unparalleled adventure for adults who grew up with the saga and newcomers to the franchise.

Here’s why Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge stands out as a must-visit destination for adults.

Immersive Storytelling and Environment

Batuu and Black Spire Outpost: The land is set on the fictional planet of Batuu, specifically in the bustling Black Spire Outpost, a haven for smugglers, traders, and adventurers.

The attention to detail in the theming is extraordinary, from the alien flora and rugged terrain to the sounds of spacecraft flying overhead.

Every meticulously designed building, droid, and artefact adds to the sensation of being in another world.

Attractions Tailored for Adults

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run: Adults have the chance to pilot the most famous ship in the galaxy.

This interactive ride offers a dynamic experience where your performance as a pilot, gunner, or engineer directly impacts the mission’s outcome, making for a thrilling and engaging adventure that differs with every ride.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance: Arguably one of the most technologically advanced rides Disney has ever created, this attraction offers an immersive experience that puts you in the middle of a battle between the Resistance and the First Order.

With ground-breaking ride systems, life-like animatronics, and large-scale sets, it’s a narrative-driven experience that’s as much a cinematic adventure as it is a theme park ride.

Dining and Shopping Experiences

Oga’s Cantina: For many adults, visiting Oga’s Cantina is a dream come true. Modelled after the iconic cantina scene from the original Star Wars film, this establishment serves up unique alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in a setting complete with alien patrons and a droid DJ.

It’s not just a place to grab a drink; it’s an opportunity to live a piece of Star Wars lore.

Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities: This shop is a treasure trove for collectors and fans, offering rare and unique items from across the galaxy.

Whether you’re looking for legacy lightsabers or rare artefacts or simply want to browse the eclectic collection, it’s a brilliant experience.
