How the travel industry can bounce back after a global pandemic
Coronavirus is a global pandemic with confirmed, Global cases of 1 million, countless deaths and about 20% of the world’s population are also currently under lockdown.
Among many industries, the effect on the travel industry could be catastrophic.
The World Travel and Tourism Council has warned the COVID-19 pandemic could cut 50 million jobs worldwide in the travel and tourism industry.
How will Coronavirus affect the travel industry?
This episode was recorded in the middle of a global pandemic which is causing chaos with health care providers, economy and employment.
One of the sectors affected by the crisis is, of course, the travel industry. Many countries are in lockdown, borders are closing, airlines are cancelling flights and many travel jobs are at risk.
Current reports are suggesting that once the outbreak is over, it could take up to 10 months for the industry to recover. The tourism industry currently accounts for 10% of global GDP, so this is pretty worrying stuff.
