A little about me
My name is Pip [or Portia to use my actual name, Pip is my lifelong nickname] and after over ten years of travel, quirky adventures and unusual mishaps, I decided to create a travel blog and lifestyle blog. My blog is all about my love for adventures, food and awesome things. I mostly enjoy living out a Carrie Bradshaw type fantasy of sipping wine and tapping away on a laptop, hence the name ‘Pip and the City’, as a sort of wink to that.
I love an adventure and have travelled extensively over the years. I’ve hiked through the Australian outback, scuba dived off Thai islands, backpacked across Canada, road tripped in America, got lost in rural Bosnia and sipped cocktails on a rooftop bar in Palestine. There have been various mishaps, missed trains and encounters with border control, but I have managed to stay in one piece somehow and I now document my adventures in my distinctive style of ‘delightful whimsy’. I want to inspire you to travel and help you discover all the awesome and unique places there are out there. I love all different types of travel and I cover many travel styles on my blog. My expertise is mostly in mid-range travel, city breaks and luxury travel, as well as solo female travel.
Working with me
I am passionate about travel, food and good living and I love to share all my experiences in a vibrant and engaging way. I can help you promote your brand, region, activity, trip, tour, holiday package or restaurant on my blog and on my social channels. I am happy to work with sponsors, companies and advertisers that are relevant to my blog and to my readers to promote interesting and exciting brands that I think my followers will love.
I am a brand ambassador for Euroventure Travel Euroventure Travel and I worked with them to help launch their series of Travel Twitter chats #EuroventureChat with the first chat generating a total of 4.8 million impressions! I have also been shortlisted as ‘Best New blogger’ at the Vuelio Blog Awards 2017 and shortlisted as The Post Office Travel Blogger of the year 2018.
In addition, I have been named as a Travelex Top Travel Blogger and an ‘Instagrammer to follow‘ by Brecon Carreg. I am also a contributor and content creator for Expedia and Euroventure as well as a regular travel contributor for BBC Radio and BBC Sesh.
I am normally based in Cardiff with my husband and favourite human Luke, but we travel as much as possible as we are extremely passionate about seeing new places and experiencing new things together.
Here’s how we can work together:
Sponsored trips, tours, activities and holidays
Holiday, resort, hotel, trips and activity reviews
Restaurant, bar and food reviews
co-hosting Twitter chats

“It was a pleasure working with Portia on her trip to Utrecht. Planning and executing the trip was easy and she posted coverage soon after visiting and followed up with impressive results and engagements. I am looking forward to our next collaboration”
“I met Portia at Traverse in London in 2017 and was immediately struck by her enthusiasm and her interest in travel. Portia is a truly dedicated blogger and I found her wonderful to work with her on a Game of Thrones-themed press trip to Northern Ireland. Her great sense of humour and strong personality really resonates with her numerous followers on social media. I would highly recommend other tourist boards to work with her.” – Des Burke, Tourism Ireland.
“It was great working with Pip, she was great in keeping to deadlines and approached the project professionally and enthusiastically. Her blog is engaging, fun and informative and I’d certainly consider collaborating with her on future projects”
Big Blue Adventures:
