Looking for the perfect coastal resort in Cornwall? You need to experience luxury beach glamping at Lusty Glaze, with their exclusive ‘yurt collection’ this summer.
This luxury glamping experience is a unique, 5 star, all-inclusive coastal retreat, based at the private beach Lusty Glaze in Newquay.
It was crowned Beach of the Year in 2017 by The Times and The Sunday Times and with its serene setting, it’s easy to see why.
Luxury Beach Glamping at Lusty Glaze
The picturesque horseshoe cove is reached via 133 steep steps, down to a sandy beach and magnificent Cornish swells.
Whilst it is a privately owned beach, it is normally fully open to the public at no cost.
However, on occasion, the beach is closed for private events such as weddings, corporate events and unique functions.

The site was purchased by Cornish born and bred Tracey Griffiths, in 1999 when it was in a derelict state.
Over the years it has been renovated into a unique and multi-purpose beach resort.
Here, you can enjoy an impressive range of with music events, as well as cooking classes and water sports.

Lusty Glaze also has an on-site restaurant, acoustic ‘sundowner sessions’, water sport activities and surf lessons.
It’s truly a unique setting for a luxury and limited capacity camping experience, right next to the ocean.
There are 12 yurts for hire down on Lusty Glaze Beach, meaning a maximum of just 24 guests at any one time.
This all adds to making it a special and exclusive beach resort in Cornwall.
Unique campsites in Cornwall
Despite my many years of travelling, I have never actually been glamping right on the beach.
Whilst there are several coastal campsites in the UK, there’s not many where you can camp on the sand, right on the shoreline.
At Lusty Glaze, the luxury bell tents are pitched as close to the ocean as you can be. This means you can wake up to the sounds of the waves rolling in.
Their spacious bell tents feature a double bed and also come with their own private wetroom facilities. This truly is beach camping with style!
It’s definitely a unique staycation in Cornwall if you are looking for a seaside and surfing break with a twist.

Lusty Glaze beach resort
From the moment we arrived at Lusty Glaze, we realised that this was no ordinary beach camping experience.
We sipped on a welcome drink as the concierge service offered to take care of everything for us. There was no struggling to pitch a tent, everything was already set up for us.
Thank christ as well, as I am the worst at putting up tents, why are there so many poles? Where can they possibly go?
Spending 3 hours assembling a 108 part tent whilst loudly swearing in frustration is most certainly not ‘being at one with nature’.
Luckily on this trip, my job was to sip on a boozy Mai tai in a deckchair, not figure out why we are missing 7 tent pegs?
Lusty Glaze beach activities
Glamping stays are bespoke at Lusty Glaze and can be tailored with any activities such as yoga, surfing or jet skiing. Just speak to the concierge service to arrange your fun activity.
We went on an exhilarating jet ski safari with Wave Runner Safaris, through the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean.
There’s nothing quite as exciting as being 3 cocktails down, clinging onto your husband, [who has never driven a car, let alone a jet ski], as he navigates the frothing ocean.
Jet skiing Lusty Glaze
The ocean was rather wild that evening, so it was all I could do to stay atop the jet ski, whilst appearing completely cool and in control.
In reality, I was giving myself an internal pep talk that went along the lines of, “pretend your Anneka Rice, pretend you’re someone who can cope.”
Despite my poor driving, it was a properly thrilling experience to ride the waves at speed.
The instructors were incredibly patient and professional despite they were dealing with a pair of mildly ridiculous humans.
Lusty Glaze Restaurant
All meals and food are freshly prepared by Lusty Glaze’s onsite executive chef and are included in your luxury stay.
Their coastal chic restaurant and bar also offer the most spectacular views of the beach, a beautiful backdrop for a romantic dinner.
If you are lucky, you’ll also get to experience a colourful sunset as you dine.
Lusty glaze restaurant menu
A mellow live music set accompanies your evening feast and adds to the zen-like atmosphere.
There’s also an explanation of the dishes from chef and a cheeky little cocktail demonstration.
Dinner certainly feels like an event here and staff are also on hand to talk you through the menu and exchange friendly banter.
We had a delicious selection of seafood dishes during our visit, including locally caught mackerel. The food was really high-quality and also beautifully presented.
Lusty Glaze sunset
One of the best things about our stay was experiencing the most dreamy beach sunset.
Cornish sunsets rarely disappoint, with hues of gold slipping into inky, midnight blue, contrasting against the roaring Atlantic swells.
I managed to capture a glorious timelapse of the sunset on my DJI Osmo Pocket that turned out amazingly.
Camping on the beach in Cornwall
It really is a special experience to go to sleep with the sound of the ocean,
I should also clarify as well, the ocean is quite loud. If you are a ‘sleep in any situation’ like my husband, you’ll be fine.
If, like me, you are a light sleeper, just be aware, you might take a little while to nod off.
Especially if you also have a husband that snores so loud it drowns out the sound of the ocean.
The yurt is also a super snug space to sleep and was more than warm enough considering we were sleeping on the beach.
The fairy lights on the yurt are also super Instagrammable and pretty. They also provide additional light if you need to find your way to your private beach hut bathroom in the night.
